Martingale collars are specifically designed to provide more control than a standard collar & (when fitted properly) will prevent your dog from escaping or backing out of their collar due to the cinching function. While martingale collars don't prevent pulling, they are an excellent training tool for teaching your dog good leash manners. They are highly recommended by trainers as the go-to collar choice for training dogs. Please be sure to follow our "how to measure" guidelines below to ensure you get the perfect fit, as these style collars are NOT adjustable.
Due to the length of the martingale chain and the spaced needed for the fi device, we can't make the overall circumference of these style collars any smaller than 15”.

These Fi 3 compatible martingales are made "over the band" style with the 3/4" width authentic fi end links. This style gives your Fi device extra protection, & allows the collar to still be functional without the Fi tracker attached

It is very important to carefully measure your pup to get accurate measurements as these collars are NOT adjustable. The best to way to measure for these style collars is with a soft measuring tape or string. Gently wrap the tape or string around the following 3 areas. The tape should be snug but not too tight. If your dog has very thick fur be sure to get the tape closer to the skin.
Measure the following 3 areas:
- the widest part of your pup's head (A)
- the neck just behind the ears (B)
- the neck where the collar naturally sits (C)
As this type of collar slides over your pup's head & is non-adjustable, if either measurement (A or B) is larger than measurement (C) the collar will need to be slightly larger to ensure it will slide off & on comfortably. As a general rule, we recommend adding .5-1" to the widest head measurement to make sure you can slide the collar off and on comfortably. You can use the measuring tape/string to ensure you can slip over your dog's head. If you prefer a looser fit or you have a fluffy pup, feel free to add a little more room.
When measuring the neck circumference (measurement C) be sure you can fit 2 fingers under the tape/string.
When tension is applied to the martingale chain it will reduce the collar's size by a max of 4". For example if the overall circumference of the collar is 18", it can tighten down to approximately 14".
*If your dog's head is significantly larger than their neck, this collar will sit lower than "normal" collars.
- BioThane® is a piece of cake to clean. Wash in soapy water or just spray off with the hose and, BOOM, it's as good as new. Towel dry or air dry, and it's ready for more fun & dirty adventures! To keep your BioThane gear performing at its best, we recommend rinsing your dog’s leash or collar with fresh water after any water-based or dirt-heavy activities. Take special care to rinse the hardware on your BioThane® gear. This will help to rinse off dirt, grime, and salt water all of which can, over time, wear down the hardware.
- To ensure the longevity of your BioThane® product, avoid exposure to certain chemicals such as, DEET, insect repellents, topical flea and tick products, as well as lotions and body oils. This can lead to brittleness and cracking over time.
- UV printing is the most durable method for printing on BioThane®. While it's incredibly resilient to the elements, it may show signs of wear and tear over time.
